Why The Term BETA Is Lame

Beta!

When launching a new feature or new site, why do designers and developers feel the need to put "BETA" next to the logo, beyond the fact that they think it's nerdy-cool?

Does the average Joe-Schmoe even know what BETA means in the intended context that it is displayed? Probably not.

Is BETA a copout for having unforseen mistakes?

To my peers: the BETA tag was cool for 5 minutes. The time you spend trying to be trendy could be time well spent fixing those bugs that BETA is supposed to over-shadow.

**Please note, if there are spelling or grammatical errors in this post, don't blame me, it's in BETA stage right now.**
